Thank you for this virtual excursion, Misa. I agree about the Edinburgh-Aberdeen train journey….I take the Caledonian sleeper from London but get off at Edinburgh, spend a day or simply have coffee with a friend, and then make sure to do the coast stretch in daylight. I love the Forth and Tay bridges and the scenery generally is fabulous, especially to one who lives inland in dry dusty Australia. And I’ll always choose the ferry over air travel ….because then it really feels like a journey!

I truly do love Aberdeen, though I recognise the perspective is quite different seeing it as a visitor rather than as a resident. As a visitor, I have the benefit of experiencing the city's highlights and charming moments. I always see so much beauty and potential in Aberdeen and will always love returning.

I loved Aberdeen! I took the train from Edinburgh to Aberdeen and what a treat! Oh my word! When I crossed the Firth of Forth, I practically jumped up in excitement, having read about that bridge forever! And I loved the Aberdeen beach. At the far end, there was a circular dance hall that I was lucky enough to go inside. A very special place indeed!

That sounds like a wonderful experience. And I share your sentiments about the train journey, I love it so much too! Travelling by train is always great but, as you say, crossing the Firth of Forth is just out of this world, as well as following the coast. Scotland truly is a wonderful place to explore and experience.

I very much hope to return! Scotland is one of my favourite places in the whole world and I've been fortunate enough to travel a fair bit! And you never know - maybe Shetland again too!

Thank you for this. Aberdeen is my secret pleasure, too, whether it's waiting for the ferry or catching moments on the beach between performing concerts. I'd add walking to the beach via the harbour into my list of pleasures!

I went to uni in Aberdeen and have only been back once in the last 17yrs since graduating. You're making me want to go back and visit again, I'm not that far away but it's hard to make the time sometimes!
